My first yoga experience is actually in Florida. I am currently in Naples, Florida visiting my family. My sister is big on yoga so she said I can come join her for a free session. Little did I know, the class takes place on a beach. We went to an Anada class which is focus on gentle postures designed to move the energy up to the brain and prepare the body for meditation. Classes also focus on proper body alignment and controlled breathing. Our instructor was named Alyssa and she's been practicing yoga for 10 years but recently started being an instructor for about 3 years now. Beach yoga seemed a little more relaxing hearing the waves and the nature life going on while you're practicing. The class was a sunset class it started at 5:00pm to 6:15pm. It was a beautiful site seeing the sunset. Most of the people in the class were wearing regular yoga pants and tank tops. A few women wore their bathing suits as if they were at the beach for the whole day. During the class for my first experience, it was tougher than I thought it would be. At times the teacher would come over and help me deepen the position and my breathing. Knowing that they don't judge you for not knowing seemed to ease my nerves. After leaving the beach, I felt refreshed. I walked out feeling more energy and positivity. If I can find a studio around me home in New Jersey who offers this type of yoga I think I will try it again.
